Songs for the Apocalypse

I love making playlists, and Saturday’s scheduled rapture/apocalypse/etc. was a great inspiration to dig through my library and put some songs together over the past few days.

Fogerty reportedly wrote "Bad Moon Rising" after watching The Devil and Daniel Webster. Inspired by a scene in the film involving a hurricane, Fogerty claims the song is about "the apocalypse that was going to be visited upon us."

The format of the "talkin' blues" in Bob Dylan's Talkin' World War III Blues permitted him to address the serious subject of nuclear annihilation with humor, and "without resorting to his finger-pointing or apocalyptical-prophetic persona"
